Supporting peace & harmony in the Arctic

Welcome to Gender and Peace in the Arctic (GAP Arctic). We are dedicated to providing a vital platform for Arctic peace and gender-related research, learning, and dissemination to academic, policy, and broader communities. Our goal is to offer a unique and much-needed solution to an increasingly militarized Arctic space through an emphasis on cooperation, friendship, and harmony.

A new forum for Arctic peace research

The evolving geopolitical landscape in the Arctic increasingly limits space for peace-related research. We identified a critical gap and believe that innovative peace research is not only possible but essential in the region. At GAP Arctic, we're committed to exploring new approaches, methods, and tools. By integrating both peace and gender as core research areas, we aim to expand existing research practices and governance strategies, fostering a more secure and equitable Arctic.

Our unique approach to Arctic challenges

GAP Arctic is the first  circumpolar gender and peace think tank established in the Arctic region. The strategic inclusion of gender topics to peace research allows us to pioneer new approaches to international relations, examine gender-related security across society and within institutions, and uncover untold histories crucial for opening up Arctic research and governance spaces.

The Team
